This week we would like talk about wines of “Old World” France, Italy, and Portugal. It just so happens that these wines will be featured at our tasting on December 7th from 4pm to 7pm at The Wine Shop.
We will start off with the Brocard Chablis Sainte Clare Chardonnay from Chablis, France. What drew us to this Chardonnay was the very light crispness that it offers your palate. The next wine is also from France and is called La Tarasque Cotes du Rhone. This is an amazing Cotes du Rhone with a lot of history. Aaron Pott is the only American winemaker to ever lead a Grand Cru Château in France. Our third wine that we will be featuring is from Italy. Isole e Olena is a fabulous Chianti Classico. From there we go to Portugal where we will sample a Smith Woodhouse 10-year Tawny Port.
There is something to be said about “Old World” wines. They’ve been making them for hundreds and hundreds of years and are just elegant. With this great lineup of wines we’ve probably hit every gift need for this holiday season…food wine, gift wine and of course a beautiful port for dessert.
This will also be our last complimentary wine tasting of the year. As of January 2014, wine tastings will cost $10 per person, or will be complimentary for Wine Club members. Hope to see everybody here on Saturday from 4pm to 7pm at The Wine Shop.
The Wine Shop is open 10am to 7pm Monday through Saturday, and by appointment on Sunday. For more information visit the shop located just across the street from the Koloa Post Office, call 808-742-7305 or visit us online at www.thewineshopkauai.com.
